Vacations in North America – Finding an Inexpensive Vacation

We all need to get away every once in awhile. No one ever said a vacation meant spending $5,000-$10,000 on a trip to Hawaii. There are thousands of inexpensive getaways. All you have to do is take the time to look for them. We understand this can take hours or even days to accomplish, so here are a few things to consider when searching for your next vacation package:

#1 The Time of Year

Depending on the location, each one will have a certain time of year when the prices are lower. For instance, if you head to Myrtle Beach in May, June, or July, the prices will be more expensive as opposed to September, October, or November. In order to find the cheapest vacation, figure out what week or weekend you will be traveling.

This alone will allow you to eliminate several places.

#2 Hotel/Resort/Villa/Condo/Cottage Accommodations

Where you stay will have a major impact on the overall price. A great example of this would be when you’re taking a trip to Disney World (in Florida). If you want to stay an hour away from the park, the prices are much cheaper than booking a unit in one of their Disney Resorts.

Also, the cost of a hotel is different from the cost of a resort. Same goes for all the other options. If you plan to stay in a hotel, the farther away it is from the attraction, the cheaper it will be. Unless there happens to be another “hot spot” in the area. The best thing to do when looking for accommodations is to set a budget. It will help you eliminate several choices.

#3 Eating in or Eating Out?

One of the biggest costs during a trip is all the places you want to eat. We all want to experience new places, but it can definitely take a toll on your finances. A lot of vacationers (especially families) prefer to find accommodations with a kitchen. Head to the grocery store and purchase food for breakfast and lunch.

Just by staying in for two out of the three meals, you could save hundreds of dollars on the cost of food. Now we know you probably don’t want to cook, but you might have to make the sacrifice in order to save money.

#4 Driving or Flying?

Nowadays, it could be cheaper to fly to your destination as opposed to driving. Again; some of this revolves around the convenience factor, but the rest of it is about cost. If you live in Ohio and want to head to Virginia Beach, it might be cheaper to drive. However, a trip to Florida could make airfare the better option.

#5 Package Deals

Anytime you want to take a vacation, start looking at all the package deals for the area. Even though the location might not be your first choice, it could provide a cheaper cost. Once you get to the destination you can drive from your vacation spot to the area of your choosing.

Make sure you take advantage of the customized package deals. These are where you get to choose what is best for you and anyone else going on the vacation.

In the end, these tips might sound basic, but they will definitely provide you with an inexpensive vacation. Then you can use all your savings on souvenirs or activities during your stay.<
