Caribbean Travel – 5 Things to make your Vacation Cheaper

Most people traveling to the Caribbean will spend most of their money on accommodations and airfare.  Even if you take a cruise it’s going to cost money to reach the port, and then you pay for the cruise itself.  When the bulk of your vacation spending goes towards these two areas, it’s really hard to enjoy other parts of the vacation.

Today we want to focus on some of the options that provide a lot of “free” activities.  Keep in mind; some of them will feel free because they were already included in a package deal.

#1 Cruise to the Caribbean

When you take a cruise, there are usually deals that involve the airfare and the cost of the cruise.  Once you get on the ship, everything on-board is free.  So if you want to watch a show during or after dinner, it’s not going to cost additional money.  The only time you have to pay extra is if you spend money at the spa, purchase alcoholic beverages, or buy things at any of the shops.

Whenever you reach a port of call, experiencing each area doesn’t mean you have to spend money on scuba diving or guided tours.  Some of the best experiences come from walking around the area yourself.  Just make sure you’re on the ship before it decides to part, because they will not wait for you.

#2 Beach Enjoyment

Most people who travel to the Caribbean want to enjoy the beaches.  A couple towels, a cooler full of drinks and plenty of sunscreen is all you need to have a good time.  While the sun is hot, the breeze off the water can provide a cooler atmosphere.  Plus, there are some places that offer shows and interacting activities throughout the week.

#3 Bike Rentals

Almost every island will have an area for bike rentals.  You can travel just about anywhere on the island, and there are paths specifically for riders.  Bike rental owners will either charge by the hour, a half-day, or full-day rentals.  If you take a cruise, an hour trip is probably the wisest choice.

#4 Become a Photographer

Just experiencing your surroundings is enough to enjoy a vacation to the Caribbean.  Whether it’s the lavish colors, the exotic animals, or just the culture; most people haven’t experienced anything like it.  Creating everlasting memories is a great way to have fun.  It doesn’t matter if you’re staying in one location or traveling to several of them on a cruise.

#5 Negotiate the Prices

Everywhere we’ve gone in the Caribbean has a host of private sellers.  Everything from intriguing necklaces to culture-type prints are available.  Whenever you want to purchase something from a seller, don’t be afraid to negotiate.  In some cases you won’t be able to understand them, but in other instances you will be able to negotiate prices.  It will allow you to purchase some interesting souvenirs and do so without spending tons of money.

There are several other ways to save money on your next vacation to the Caribbean.  Those that take a cruise will be able to eat on the ship, so it is not necessary to spend money in restaurants on shore.  Whatever the situation is, the five tips above will cut down the overall cost of your trip.  Plus, you’re still able to enjoy every minute of it.<
